What an amazing afternoon we had making our own versions of the treasured Sweetgrass Baskets! Artisan Sarah Edwards-Hammond and her assistant, Carol Brown, gave us a brief overview of the different materials used, then taught us how to weave our own baskets. I have always had an appreciation for the beauty and artistry of these baskets; now I also understand the amount of work and strong hands needed to create these works of art. Sarah and Carol were amazing, knowledgeable, patient instructors, and we had a fun, educational afternoon.
